* Work in progress.  Wrote framework for comment pattern handling.  Implementation incomplete and some bugs remain.

* incorrect disposal

* incorrect type decorations

* WIP: update changelog, add a test

* rename the setting, update package.json and add more tests

* deal with whitespace continuations

* address PR feedback
